Thanks for using StepGrab! We're here to help you turn your workflows into perfect guides. Below are answers to the most common questions — and how to reach us if you need more.

Common Questions

How do I start a recording?

Click the StepGrab icon in your Mac menu bar and choose "Start Recording". Every click you make will be captured automatically with a screenshot and description.

How do I upgrade to Pro?

In the app settings — or when you hit the free step limit — click "Upgrade to Pro". Pro unlocks unlimited steps, unlimited recordings, and all export formats (PDF, MP4). It's available as a yearly subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase.

Where are my exports saved?

After finishing a recording, click "Export". StepGrab asks you to pick a destination folder on your Mac. You can change the default location anytime in Settings.

How do I restore my Pro purchase?

If you've reinstalled the app or switched to a new Mac, open the "Upgrade" window and click "Restore Purchases". Your Pro status will be reactivated through your Apple ID.

Data Processing and Storage

StepGrab is built with a "Privacy First" approach.

Screenshots & Content

All screenshots, click data, and generated guides are processed and stored locally on your Mac. We have no access to your captured content — it never leaves your device unless you choose to share it.

Sign in with Apple

We use "Sign in with Apple" to provide a seamless experience across devices. This generates an anonymous Apple User ID which is stored locally in your UserDefaults and used to identify your account status.

In-App Purchases

To manage your "Pro" features, we use Apple's native StoreKit framework directly — no third-party services are involved.

Purchase Verification

Your purchase status is verified directly through your Apple ID via the App Store. We do not store or process any payment information.

No External Data Sharing

Your purchase history stays entirely within Apple's ecosystem and is never shared with third parties.

Terms of Use (EULA)

By using StepGrab, you agree to the following terms.

License

StepGrab grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control, subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

Subscriptions & Purchases

StepGrab Pro is available as an auto-renewable yearly subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Yearly subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.

Free Tier

The free version of StepGrab has limited functionality. Specific limits (number of recordings, steps per recording, export formats) may change at any time.

No Warranty

The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the app.

Changes

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Germany.
