Step-by-step instructions
This guide walks you through clearing the cache and cookies in Google Chrome on macOS using Chrome's "Delete browsing data" dialog. Follow these steps to remove cached files and site cookies for the selected time range.
- In the top-right corner of the Chrome window, click the three-dot menu (Customize and control Google Chrome) to open the main menu.
- In the menu, click "Delete browsing data...".
- At the top of the "Delete browsing data" dialog, click the time range and choose "Last 7 days" (or the range you want to clear).
- Click the "Browsing history" checkbox to deselect it, leaving "Cookies and other site data" checked.
- Click the "Cached images and files" checkbox to deselect it if you only want to clear cookies, or leave it checked to also clear the cache.
- Click the blue "Delete from this device" button at the bottom right of the dialog to clear the selected data.
This SOP was recorded with StepGrab, a native macOS app that captures a screenshot at every click and turns it into a numbered, annotated guide. Every frame above is a real screen from a Mac — press play to watch each step, or download the full guide as a PDF or video.
