Step-by-step instructions
This guide shows how to grant an app Screen Recording access on macOS through System Settings > Privacy & Security, so the app is allowed to capture your screen. You can enable an existing app in the list or add a new one with the file picker.
- Open System Settings and click "Privacy & Security" in the left sidebar.
- In the Privacy & Security list, scroll down and click "Screen & System Audio Recording".
- On the Screen & System Audio Recording panel, turn on the switch next to the app you want to allow. To add an app that is not listed, click the "+" (plus) button below the list.
- When the "Privacy & Security" authentication dialog appears, enter your Mac password and click "Modify Settings" to confirm the change.
- If you are adding a new app, the Finder file picker opens to your Applications folder. Select the app you want to grant Screen Recording access to.
- Click the "Open" button in the bottom right of the file picker to add the selected app to the Screen Recording list.
